THE DEATH of Beau Arndt has shaken Lyon County as deeply as any event in recent memory.
The death of a young person is always hard. When the death is the result of someone else’s egregious stupidity, it is even harder for family and friends to deal with. The world is turned on its head when parents must bury a child and no amount of logic can turn it right-side up again.
But through a heartbreaking week, Bob and Chris Arndt, Beau Arndt’s parents, have remained a source of comfort and strength for their family and the whole community. They have been open and kind to friends and strangers and have displayed understanding and forgiveness that is both moving and extraordinary.
In the midst of what must be great pain and confusion, the Arndt family have been for the community an example of kindness, certainty and faith.
The crowd at Beau Arndt’s funeral Thursday was estimated at 750 people — neighbors, friends, classmates from Northern Heights High School and Emporia High School. Their presence was proof to the young man’s family — if any was needed — that Beau Arndt was loved and treasured and that they are loved and treasured.
It has been a terrible week, and Lyon County would not have gotten through these days half so well without Bob and Chris Arndt.

My most sincere condolences go to the Arndt Family.
I agree with Mr. Kelley. That family is most-definitely one to learn from.
