Today
The Emporia Chess Society meets from 6:30 to 9 p.m. at the Granada Coffee Company and from 1:30 to 4 p.m. every Saturday at Pyramid Pizza. All ages and skill levels are welcome, including children. There is no charge.
Alpha Sigma Chapter of Alpha Delta Kappa meets at 7 p.m. at the Home of Bev Dillman. Leona Travis will be the assistant hostess.
Emporia Masonic Lodge 12 meets at 7:30 p.m. at the Masonic Temple, 424 Merchant St.
Tuesday
The Rotary Club meets at noon at the Emporia Country Club, 18th Avenue and Rural Street.
The Literary League meets at 1:30 p.m. with Mary Melhorn. June Hubert is the co-hostess. Roll call will be “A Favorite Christmas Tradition.” Onnalee Harrell will present the program, “A Christmas Story.” Members will bring nonperishable food for the Salvation Army.
Single Adult Fellowship group meets at 6 p.m. every Tuesday in December at Gambino’s Pizza, 1003 Industrial Road. Information: Sara, 342-5303.

The Kiwanis Club meets at 6:15 p.m. in the Commander’s Room at the American Legion, 2921 W. 12th Ave.
The Emporia Duplicate Bridge Club meets at 6:30 p.m. in the lobby of the Best Western Hospitality House, 3021 W. Highway 50. Information: Clara Elkins at 342-5274.
The Emporia Charter Chapter of the American Business Women’s Association meets at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday after dinner at the courthouse annex, 402 Commercial St. There is parking on the south side and entrance in the south doors. Roxana Johnson will present “A Christmas Story.” The meal will be catered by the Johnson Sister’s Baked Cakery. There also might be a “special guest.” Those who wish to attend are to call Carol Stephens at 757-9466 for reservations.

The Sunrise Rotary Club meets at 7 a.m. at the Regency Gardens, 3021 W. Highway 50.
AARP Chapter 285 meets at 11:30 a.m. at the Regency Gardens restaurant. The program will be “Memories of Christmas Past.” The public is welcome to attend. Information: 342-5139.
The Senior Singles group for 50+ single persons desiring Christian fellowship and fun meets each third Wednesday at noon in the Best Western Regency Gardens restaurant. The group orders off the menu and there is usually a program. Information: 342-6186.
The Noon Lions Club meets at noon in the Skyline Room of the ESU Memorial Union.
Lyon County Chapter 36 Disabled American Veterans meets at 7:30 p.m. at the Army Reserve Center, 1412 E. Sixth Ave. The Auxiliary meets at 7:30 p.m. the fourth Wednesday of each month at the same location at 7:30 p.m.
Miriam Chapter 14 of the Order of the Eastern Star meets at 7:30 p.m. at the Masonic Temple, 424 Merchant St.

The Flint Hills Optimist Club meets at noon at the ESU Memorial Union.
The Hi-Noon Kiwanis Club meets at noon at the Emporia Country Club, 18th Avenue and Rural Street.
The Sertoma Club meets at noon at the American Legion, 2921 W. 12th Ave.
Altrusa International of Emporia meets at 6 p.m. for the President’s Christmas Party, gift exchange and SOS Shower at the home of Jean Tidwell. Past presidents will be the co-hostesses.
Flint Hills Area Vietnam Veterans meets at 6 p.m. at American Legion Post 5, 2921 W. 12th Ave.
Saturday
The Emporia Airport Action Group meets at approximately 9 a.m. every Saturday in the main terminal of the Emporia Municipal Airport for “hangar talk,” coffee and doughnuts. “You are free to move about” the airport. Information: call 342-3598.
