As the fall semester draws to a close, many students are selling their books back to the bookstore to make a little extra cash. This year, though, Alpha Phi Omega, a service fraternity at Emporia State University, is sponsoring a book drive.
“We will be setting up big green and white collection boxes in most buildings around campus, which will remain up until January 25, 2008,” said Jennifer Dean, co-secretary of ESU’s chapter of Alpha Phi Omega.
The group is collecting any books published since 2001 that could be used in a college classroom. The books or the funds they raise will be donated to Books for Africa (BFA).
BFA is the largest shipper of donated textbooks to Africa. These books go to schools where African children may have very few books or none at all.
