An emergency fund for the family of Jose Luis Gonzalez has been opened at Lyon County State Bank after their mobile home was destroyed by fire earlier this week.
"Although all of their possessions were lost in the fire, Jose says that he is grateful that his family was not injured," said Mike Tovar, assistant vice president at the bank.
Gonzalez and his wife, Belen Contreras, have two daughters — 16-year-old Bricylda and 4-year-old Jessica. Gonzalez works in the construction industry, Tovar said, and Contreras is a homemaker.
"He appreciates the help that he has received from his coworkers and any additional support that he may receive from the community," Tovar said.
Donations for the Gonzalez Emergency Fund can be taken at any Lyon County State Bank branch or mailed to 902 Merchant St., Emporia KS 66801.
