The Emporia State men’s and women’s basketball teams both dropped significantly in the national polls after suffering losses last week.
The Lady Hornets (4-2) fell from No. 7 to No. 14 in the WBCA rankings after their 58-51 home loss to Harris-Stowe of the NAIA.
This is the 60th straight week that the ESU women have been ranked in the poll.
ESU is one of three ranked teams from the MIAA; Washburn (6-1) is sixth, while Missouri Southern (7-0) entered the poll at No. 24.
The ESU men, meanwhile, moved from No. 7 to No. 18 in the NABC poll after losing games to Newman and No. 22 Nebraska-Omaha last week.
Northwest Missouri State (13th, 5-1) and Pittsburg State (17th, 6-0) are the other ranked MIAA teams. UNO, which has defeated both Northwest Missouri State and ESU, moved up 10 spots to No. 12.
ESU is one of only six schools to have both its men’s and women’s programs in the national rankings.
