Emporia board to meet Wednesday

Monday, December 10, 2007

An interlocal agreement for the Neighborhood Revitalization Program will reach its final hurdle for approval during the Emporia Board of Education meeting at 7 p.m. Wednesday in the Mary Herbert Education Center, 1700 W. 7th Ave.

Also on the agenda is a proposal for an addition at Village Elementary School. The board will consider letting bids for the family and consumer science project at Emporia High School, and will review a summary of bond savings.

A report from the Capital Improvement Committee, with recommendations, will be presented to the board for approval.

The interlocal agreement, which already has been approved by Lyon County and Emporia commissioners, allows tax benefits to individuals and landlords who make qualified improvements to properties within the revitalization boundaries.

In addition to staff resignations and hirings, the board’s consent agenda includes a request to sell a school vehicle by sealed bid and surplus property at auction, donations to the debate program at Emporia High School and Maynard Early Childhood Center, and a transportation request from the Flint Hills Technical College.
