Today
The Emporia Chess Society meets from 6:30 to 9 p.m. at the Granada Coffee Company and from 1:30 to 4 p.m. every Saturday at Pyramid Pizza. All ages and skill levels are welcome, including children. There is no charge.
The Reading Lions Club meets at 7 p.m. at the Reading Community Building.
Tuesday
The Flint Hills Regional Quilt Guild meets from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Presbyterian West Campus, 1702 W. 15th Ave., for a gift and cookie exchange.
P.E.O. Chapter HY meets at 9 a.m. with Pat Howard. The program will be “Big Brothers/Big Sisters.”
The Rotary Club meets at noon at the Emporia Country Club, 18th Avenue and Rural Street.
Single Adult Fellowship group meets at 6 p.m. every Tuesday in December at Gambino’s Pizza, 1003 Industrial Road. Information: Rufus Hobbs, 392-5780.
The Kiwanis Club meets at 6:15 p.m. in the Commander’s Room at the American Legion, 2921 W. 12th Ave.

The Sunrise Rotary Club meets at 7 a.m. at the Regency Gardens, 3021 W. Highway 50.
The International Association of Administrative Professionals meet at 6:30 p.m. at Newman Regional Health for dinner, with presentations at 7 p.m. Nadine Yust, 341-9979.
The Emporia Camera Club meets at 7 p.m. (note change of date for this month) at the First Presbyterian Church, 802 Commercial St. Paul Johnston will give the program, “Lyon County Fair Photo Judging Critique.” Jack and Mary Melhorn are the hosts.
The Flint Hills Genealogical Society meets at 7 p.m. at the Emporia Public Library, 110 E. Sixth Ave., for their Christmas party. Participants are to bring snacks.
Lyon County Chapter 36 Disabled American Veterans meets at 7:30 p.m. at the Army Reserve Center, 1412 E. Sixth Ave. The Auxiliary meets at 7:30 p.m. the fourth Wednesday of each month at the same location at 7:30 p.m.
Thursday
The Flint Hills Optimist Club meets at noon at the ESU Memorial Union.
The Hi-Noon Kiwanis Club meets at noon at the Emporia Country Club, 18th Avenue and Rural Street.
The Sertoma Club will not meet today. Flags will be flown Saturday for ESU commencement.
Saturday
The Emporia Airport Action Group meets at approximately 9:30 a.m. every Saturday in the main terminal at the Emporia Municipal Airport for “hangar” talk, coffee and doughnuts. “You are free to move about” the airport.

The Flint Hills Chapter of the Old Time Fiddlers, Pickers and Singers meets from 1 to 6 p.m. at the Emporia Recreation Center, 313 W. Fourth Ave. Music is provided for dancing. Admission is by donation. Visitors are welcome.
