Seminar for livestock producers planned

There will be a meeting geared toward livestock producers next month in Emporia designed to educate producers on low-stress livestock handling.
Brian Rees, of the Lyon County Extension Office, said the workshop, which will be on Jan. 16 and 17, will be hosted by the K-State Research and Extension will host Dr. Lynn Locatelli for the workshops. Locatelli is a veterinarian from Benkelman, Neb., who has concentrated on Low Stress handling education, consultation and training. Lynn will conducting the workshop from 5 to 9 p.m. Jan. 16 and from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Jan. 17 at Emporia Livestock Sales, 502 Albert St. The plan is to have one session geared toward the cow-calf producer and the other targeting the feedlot operator.
“Thanks to some generous business sponsorships, there will only be a $25 per person charge for either session,” Rees said.
