Chase County
The Chase County Leader-News reported that Emergency Management Director Scott Wiltse notified members of the Chase County Local Emergency Planning Committee that he delivered his letter of resignation to Chase County Commissioners and two-week notice on Dec. 3.
In an e-mail, Wiltse said his “decision to leave is based on the unwillingness and lack of trust by two of the commissioners. It is my hope that whomever they replace me with, that they will actively support and participate in this entire program.”
Madison
The Madison News reported the Madison Christmas celebration will be Wednesday with activities for all ages planned. Open houses will be from 2 to 4:30 p.m. Santa will arrive at 4 p.m. and Christmas drawings will be at 5 p.m. in the Sauder Community Center in Madison. Prize drawing winners must be present to win.
Burlington
The Coffey Health System is sponsoring wireless Internet for Coffey County.
The Coffey County Republican reported that initial hotspots include all six public libraries, Coffey County Courthouse meeting rooms and east entrance area, Burlington High School commons area and gymnasium, USD 244 board meeting room, Lebo High School, Wavery High School and Coffey County Hospital.
Wireless connections are available within Coffey County Hospital.
