The assets of the Reeble Foundation will be placed with the Emporia Community Foundation, it was announced today.
Trustees of the Reeble Foundation have followed the joint decision of Barney and Jane Reeble to place the foundation’s assets with the foundation, Jane Reeble announced. The Emporia Community Foundation accepted the management of the Reeble Foundation as a Donor Advised Fund at a meeting this morning.
“I am both pleased and excited that by taking this action our efforts — Barney’s and mine — to do good things for Emporia will continue,” Reeble said. “Through the Emporia Community Foundation, our interests in education and assisting those in need will be met in the years ahead.”
The assets of the Reeble Foundation will become a component part of the Emporia Community Foundation when directed by Reeble or upon her death.
“How wonderful this is for Emporia,” said Ken Buchele, Emporia Community Foundation president. “The main purpose of ECF is to provide for the charitable needs of the Emporia community. Our purpose mirrors that of the Reeble Foundation and we are delighted at Barney and Jane’s vision to keep the Reeble Foundation in our area forever.”
Jane Reeble will continue to direct the Reeble Foundation for as long as she wishes.
Elvin Perkins, a long-time member of the Emporia Community Foundation board of directors and one of the founders of the Emporia organization, said the foundation is appreciative of Jane Reeble for entrusting the Emporia Community Foundation.
“ ... This is an example that shows how people who have prospered in Emporia can ensure their estate will benefit others during their lifetime and long afterward as well,” Perkins said. “I know Jane Reeble and the Reeble Foundation will be an inspiration for others in the future.”
