Artist chosen
A Madison third-grader is among 13 students from around the state selected as winners in the 2008 Kansas Don’t Spoil It! Calendar Contest.
The Kansas Department of Health and Environment announced that Tommy Secord was selected to have his submission included in the calendar.
KDHE received thousands of entries for the contest, in which students in grades kindergarten through high school were invited to submit original artwork that promotes recycling, reusing materials and reducing waste. Contest winners met with Gov. Kathleen Sebelius and received a large version of their artwork signed by her and KDHE Secretary Roderick L. Bremby. The winning artwork and photographs of the students will be displayed on the Kansas Don’t Spoil It! Web site at http://www.kdheks.gov/kdsi. Calendar orders will be taken at 1-800-282-9790.
