Officials are still expecting the former Deer Trail building, near the Lyon County Fairgrounds, to be completed in a few weeks.
Dustin Ochs, of CKEC, told Lyon County commissioners during their Wednesday morning study session that he had visited the construction site. The building is being remodeled for the Lyon County Extension Office. The extension is temporarily being housed in the Lyon County Annex until the new building is ready.
Ochs said the building is now having drywall put up..
“They are supposed to be pretty much done in a couple of days,” Ochs said, “ ... or coming to completion around the end of the week.”
Crews should start painting by Friday or Saturday, Ochs added. Tile work also is scheduled to begin soon in several areas. The ceiling grid still has to be installed before insulation and ceiling tiles can be placed.
Ochs said almost all materials are either on site or in Emporia. The cabinets were to arrive today and the counter tops are slated to arrive in about a week.
