Program set for next week

Wednesday, December 5, 2007

The 72nd production of Emporia ’s Seasonal Celebration will be presented Wednesday, Dec. 12, and Thursday, Dec. 13, in W.L. White Auditorium.

Preparations are under way for the music program performed by students in grades six through 12. The doors will open at 6:30 p.m. and no one will be admitted after the program begins at 7:30. Admission will be $2 at the door for school-age children and adults. Preschool children will be admitted free. No tickets will be required.

A dress rehearsal at noon Tuesday at the auditorium will be open to the public at no charge.

As in past years, the program will feature vocal and instrumental holiday music from around the world. Sign language interpreters will be at the program both nights, and a section will be reserved for people who are hearing impaired.

Flash cameras and lighted video cameras will not be permitted in the auditorium for the evening performances but are welcome during the dress rehearsal on Dec. 11. The auditorium concession stand also will not be open during the program this year and no food or drink will be allowed in the auditorium.

For more information about the program, call the school district community relations office at 341-2213.

Last night, I had the opportunity to attend K-State University Orchestra and Concert Choir CHRISTMAS program and it was beautiful!!...it was so good to be able to hear all of those favorite CHRISTMAS songs and when they sang the "Hallelujah" from "Messiah", the entire packed audience in McCain Auditorium STOOD in reverence....how impressive. I am sure that some "state/federal" money was spent to put this production on.... It is too bad that the little town of Emporia bent to the ACLU...if every town stood together, the ACLU could not sue all of them~~~ We need to take back OUR rights!!
