ESU men join
Lady Hornets at No. 7
The Emporia State men continued their ascent up the NABC Division II rankings — though they’d probably be the first to admit they didn’t do much in this last week to deserve it.
The Hornets rose three spots this week to No. 7, matching the highest ranking the men’s program has ever received. ESU also was ranked No. 7 in last season’s Jan. 16 and Jan. 23 polls after starting the season 16-0.
ESU kept climbing despite only playing one game in the past week — and that was against an NAIA foe.
The Hornets defeated Ottawa, 77-43, at home on Nov. 26.
ESU now is the highest-ranked MIAA team.
The ESU women, meanwhile, kept their position at No. 7 in the WBCA poll. The Lady Hornets did not play in the week that spanned between the polls but did win, 82-54, against Evangel on Monday night.
ESU is the only Division II school to have both its men’s and women’s basketball teams ranked in the top 10. Only two other schools in all of NCAA (Division I North Carolina and Division III Wisc.-Whitewater) have current men’s and women’s top-10 basketball programs.

What a great accomplishment this early in the season. How come everyone on the blogs will repond to all negative stories but not to the stories like this and Stueve's?
