Tuesday

• There will be a ribbon-cutting at 10:45 a.m. at the new Pizza Hut Wing Street near Wal-Mart.

• Story hour starting at 9:30 a.m. at the Hartford Public Library in Hartford.

Wednesday

• There will be a discussion of the book “The Persian Pickle Club” at 7 p.m. at the Emporia Public Library, 110 E. Sixth Ave.

• Lyon County Commissioners will meet for a study session starting at 8 a.m. in the Commission Chambers of the Lyon County Courthouse.

• The Emporia City Commission will meet for its regular meeting at 1:30 p.m. in the Municipal Court Room/City Commission Room, 518 Mechanic.

Thursday

• Emporia Main Street will sponsor carriage rides starting at 5 p.m. at Seventh Avenue and Merchant Street. Tickets go on sale at 4:30 p.m. at the Farmer’s Market kiosk and are $5.

• Business After Hours will be held at 5 p.m. at Carlos O’Kelly’s, 2144 W. US-Highway 50. Advance registration required at 342-1600.

• A scrapbooker’s make and take will be at 5 p.m. at Navrat’s Inc., 728 Mechanic St.

• Lyon County Commissioners will meet for an action session starting at 8 a.m. in the Commission Chambers of the Lyon County Courthouse.

• A Kaw Mission Christmas will be at 6:30 p.m. at the Kaw Mission in Council Grove.

Friday

• Tallgrass Pickin’ will be at 7:30 p.m. at the Emma Chase Cafe in Cottonwood Falls.

Saturday

• Holiday glitter! The 2007 Holiday Homes Tour sponsored by the Lyon County Historical Society will be from 6:30 to 8 p.m. The cost of the tour is $8 per person in advance and $10 at the door. Homes include: H.C. Cross House, 526 Union; Charles F. Grob House, 512 Exchange St.; H.W. Brinkman/Harrison Parkman/C. Edward Gray House, 917 State St.; the Fred B. Clogston House, 928 Neosho; and the Howe House and Welsh Farmstead, 315 E. Logan Ave. The Lyon County Historical Museum, 118 E. Sixth Ave., and the Archives, 225 E. Sixth Ave., will be open to the public as well.

• Ho ho ho! Santa will be in Olpe from 3-4 p.m.

• The Emporia Brown Express Christmas Tree Contest will be at the Flint Hills Mall.

• The Lebo Pride Committee is sponsoring a Holiday Weekend Extravanganza. Breakfast will be served from 7 to 10 a.m. with a $5.50 donation at Breakfast With Santa.

Sunday

• The 2007 Holiday Homes Tour will be from 1 to 4 p.m. The cost of the tour is $8 per person in advance and $10 at the door.

• The Christmas Market will be from 2 to 6 p.m. at the Hartford Public Library in Hartford. From 3 to 4 p.m. will be music with Bruce Hoover and Virginia; 4 to 4:30 p.m., special music; and from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m., story readers. Crafts and cookies will be available during the afternoon.

• The annual Christmas Homes Tour will be in Lebo from 4 to 7 p.m. Tickets are $5 and are available at each location. Locations include the homes of Amy and Tim Krueger, Teresa and Dan Huttenmaier, Shannon and Grey Hoy, Rick and Nanci Denton, a Grimmett home and John and Irma Born.

• Santa will be in Lebo from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Masonic Lodge. Bring a new toy for the toy drive. The Lebo Baptist Church will have a soup supper Sunday at the church from 4 to 7 p.m.

• The American Cancer Love Lights a Tree Ceremony will be at 5 p.m. at the Coffee County Library, Lebo branch.
