The event that brought Sacred Heart School $25,000 last year is less than a month away — the Sacred Heart School Taco Supper.
Rachel Andrews, an advisor for the taco supper, has helped with the popular event for four years. She said this year’s event marks the supper’s 34th year.
The supper starts at 4 p.m. on Sept. 21 at the Sacred Heart Church Parish Hall, 102 Exchange St. in Emporia.
When asked how popular the annual taco supper is, Andrews replied it made $25,000 last year. The money goes directly to the school.
“It does benefit the school,” Andrews said. “The money that we raise goes towards teachers’ supplies and things for the classroom.”
Andrews said the popularity stems from two things.
“The food and just the support of the school,” she said.
Ticket costs include tacos, rice, chips and dessert. Tickets for the supper are $6 in advance and $7 at the door. Tickets may be purchased from a Sacred Heart student.
Tickets also can be purchased at the school or at homes around town with yard signs advertising the supper. Call 343-7394 for information or to buy tickets.
