Marion
Signs at the Marion Reservoir prohibit pets from entering beach areas since three dogs died July 4 weekend after swimming in an isolated cove. An autopsy of one of the dogs indicated poisons from blue-green algae likely was the cause of death. The Peabody Gazette-Bulletin reported that since that time, brochures with common sense information about washing after swimming have been made available to campers, boaters and swimmers at the lake.
