The Emporia Community Foundation is ready to offer another helping hand to nonprofit groups.
The foundation is now accepting applications for its second round of grants this year. Applications are due by Sept. 28 and the grants will be awarded in late October.
Groups that apply should have an innovative project in mind to help the clients they serve. In a release, foundation board president Ken Buchele said applicants should follow three guidelines:
• Keep the size and scope under control. Projects should be able to be funded in one lump sum.
• The organization should have enough volunteers and staff to handle the project.
• The organization must show how the grant money will be used.
Requests for ongoing operating funds will not be considered.
Projects can be in the areas of health, social services, education, recreation and cultural initiatives. Applicants may be from Lyon, Chase, Greenwood, Morris, Osage, Coffey or Wabaunsee counties.
An application form is available by calling the foundation at 342-9304, writing to PO Box 1337, Emporia KS 66801 or by going online to www.emporiacf.org.
