U.S. REP. Jerry Moran and the House of Representatives. The House approved $150,000 for the National Teachers Hall of Fame.
• Newman Regional Health candy stripers Gladys Azzun, Whitney Brooks and Corinne Edds, who were honored for donating one hundred volunteer hours.
• Donna Breshears, who won the Lyon County Senior Spelling Bee. Mary Fisher placed second and Dee Bosiljevac was third.
• Emporia State University football players Joel Griffiths, Seville Ko, Lucas Sullivan, A.J. Franklin, Matt Demicoli, Jake Richter and Johnny Torres, who were named to the D2football Preseason All-MIAA team.
• ESU graduate Tristen Wendland, who was named the Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor of the Year by the Department of Veterans Affairs.
• The Emporia City Commission and the Lyon County Commission which are completing the budget process with only a small increases in the mill levy.
• ESU Football fans who are purchasing season tickets. More reserved seat tickets have been sold this year than the past five years.
• ABZ Manufacturing, which is expanding its corporate offices in downtown Madison.
