Computer security taught in new class

Free classes on keeping your home computer safe will be offered to the public at Flint Hills Technical College.
Participants will learn how to help protect personal computers from spyware, Trojans, identity theft and viruses. Tips will be shared on how to handle these threats effectively at no cost.
Adam Ziesmer, technology specialist at the Emporia Public Library, will present the class on Wednesday from 2-3:30 p.m. He will repeat the session on Aug. 30 from 7-8:30 p.m. Both gatherings will be held at the Flint Hills Technical College Library, 3301 W. 18th Ave.
Registration can be completed by calling the Emporia Public Library at 340-6462; registration is preferred, but not required.
The class is one in a series offered monthly in cooperation with Emporia area libraries, including Emporia State University’s White Library, the School of Library and Information Management , Flint Hills Technical College, Emporia Public Library and the State Library of Kansas.
The series, called “Resources for Living @ Our Libraries” will continue through 2007, with classes on homework help, word processing and more. Information on classes, dates and places can be found at: skyways.lib.ks.us/library/emporia/resources.htm
Staff from partnering libraries will assist in the classes. Printed handouts will be available and refreshments will be served.
