Reunion set next month
Emporia High School graduates from the classes of 1965, 1966, 1967 and 1968 will have a combined reunion on Sept. 7 and 8. On Sept. 8, the group will meet from 6:30 to 11 p.m. at the Eagles Club, 1130 E. Ninth Ave. This is a change in location from the notice previously published. A local planning committee is asking for assistance in locating and reconnecting with former classmates.

‘Rock Chalk’ visits
The University of Kansas “Rock Chalk Road Show” will visit 60 Kansas high schools and community colleges to meet with school counselors, parents and students. On Friday, the KU show will visit Chase County High School and Lebo High School. Students attending can enter a drawing for KU-related prizes. Card shower
A card shower is requested for Everett Hunter, who will celebrate his 91st birthday Aug. 30. Cards may be sent to 824 Lakeview St., Emporia, KS 66801.
Balloon release
A celebration of the life and birthday of Rachel Hall, who was killed July 9, 2007, in a two-vehicle accident will be held Sunday. There will be a balloon release at 1:30 p.m. at her home at 1520 Road R.
Swim party
All girls ages 5 through 17 are invited to the Girl Scout’s Summer Bash Swim Party from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at Jones Aquatic Center, 4202 W. 18th Ave. The cost is $2 a girl, with no charge for parents. Girls do not need to be members of the Girl Scouts to attend.
