Twins’ birthday

June 5 was the 85th birthday celebration for Neosho Rapids’ twins, Ada Dill and Alta Clark. The family gathered for lunch at the Neosho Rapids Senior Center.

Those attending from the surrounding area were Chuck, Linda and Neil Clark; Trent Clark, Carmen Clark, Emil and Charlotte Krueger; Megan, Bobby, Blayne, Wyatt and Brienna Wilson; Brett and Mary Skillman; John Dill, Mark Dill, Tyler, Ben and Colburn and Terry and JaNae Brown, Chelsy, Lauren and Kylie Schlesener.

Family members from out of town were Mike, Stacy, Emily, Lindsay and Nic Phillips and Steven Phillips of Topeka; Jake, Amanda, Katie and Remington Clark of St. Louis; Tobias Clark of Oklahoma City; Todd, Stephanie, Lindsay and Morgan Kaniper of Salina and Gloria and Erica Auchard of Council Grove.

Many friends arrived later that afternoon for cake. Several guests had attended school with the twins from the first-grade through high school graduation from Neosho Rapids in 1940. They were Max Andrews, Myra Lee and Levern Love, Ethel Hodges, Rose Mary Senn and Lola Mae Luke. They were members of the last class to graduate from Neosho Rapids High School.

Birthday trip

Paul L. Hahn of Emporia was a guest of 12 family members and friends Aug. 9-12 in Washington, D.C. to commemorate his upcoming 90th birthday. He was born Sept. 19, 1917 at Emporia. Because Hahn is a World War II veteran, the trip featured a visit to the World War II Memorial and Arlington cemetery, as well as the White House and other sites in Washington.

He was joined by his daughter and son-in-law, Terry and Jana Enright of Elgin, Ill.; Joy Enright of Emporia, mother of Jana Enright; his grandchildren, great-grandchildren and friends: Kelly and Aaron Enright and son, Alec, of Itasca, Ill.; Matt and Kara Hamby and son, Ethan, of Harlingen, Texas and Jennifer Enright and daughter, Sidney Blanz-Enright and Nick Galati of Hanover Park, Ill.
