A Hartford man is in critical condition this morning after a Friday crash in eastern Lyon County between his four-wheeler ATV and a tractor-trailer.
Larry Lee Wilson, 71, was flown to Wesley Medical Center in Wichita after the accident and is still being treated there. The driver of the semi, 57-year-old Billy Hoffman of Osage City, was treated by ambulance workers at the scene.
Authorities were called to the accident around 2:20 p.m. Friday in the 900 block of Road Y5. According to information from the Lyon County Sheriff’s Department, Wilson was driving north in the southbound lane spraying the ditch. When he made a U-turn, he drove into the northbound lane and was struck by Hoffman’s northbound semi.
The semi went into the east ditch. The ATV was found in the southbound lane.
