The Finney family
Forty-seven descendants of Elijah and Elizabeth Mary Finney met Aug. 5 at the Americus Senior Center for a covered-dish dinner. Wilma Jeanne Dawes gave the invocation. The group spent the afternoon “visiting and getting reacquainted,” said the reporter.
The late Glada Fowler’s children who attended were Homer Fowler of Colorado, Ernest and Mary Fowler of Georgia, Don and Alice Bobbit and Juanita Meyers of Emporia, and grandson Shaun and Nancy Fowler of Colorado.
Children of the late Elmer Finney attending were Mary Elizabeth Sowers of Texas, Bill and Wilma Finney of Emporia, Roberta Lewis and Clayton and Pat Finney of Council Grove, Gene and Eleanor Hickman of Axtil and Glen and Ernestine Finney Hatch of Americus.
Grandchildren attending were J. D. and Wilma Jeanne Dawes and Billy and Carrie Finney of Emporia; Jim Lewis and John and Heather Finney of Dunlap; Wiletta Lewis of Council Grove; Jennifer, Kelsy and Cameron Bosch and Bryan and Susie Finney and Travis of Americus; Juleen Young of Madison; Adam and Elizabeth Young of Reading and Erica Young and Tim and Anna Finney, Jessica and Gene, of Allen.
Those attending from the late Hazel Anderson’s family were her granddaughter, Peggy McAdoo of Topeka and daughter-in-law, Elsie Anderson of Americus.
