Emporia’s new real estate team is a sister act

Sisters Kristi Henrickson-Mohn, left, and Beth Henrickson are a real estate team at Re/Max.

Beth Henrikson of Re/Max Select Realtors always knew she’d be in business with her sister, Kristi Henrikson-Mohn, someday. Earlier this year, that prediction came true when Henrikson-Mohn joined Re/Max as a sales associate.

Together, the Henrikson sisters, who are 13 months apart in age, form what is known as the Henrikson Team, Realtors, which serves Emporia and the surrounding area.

Beth Henrikson started her real-estate career in North Carolina. She worked there for a little more than a year and then moved to Emporia, where she and her sister grew up, to be closer to family. Kristi Henrikson-Mohn owns Flint Hills Music, located in downtown Emporia.

Henrikson said she’s been involved in Emporia real estate since 2004 and she realized last year that she was so busy she didn’t feel she was able to serve her customers as well as she should.

“I tried to keep the business manageable,” Henrikson said. “I talked Kristi into real estate.”

Henrikson-Mohn started April 1. Henrikson said the team concept isn’t new. More than 25 percent of Re/Max agents are a part of a team.

“It’s a business inside a business,” she said.

Henrikson said two heads are better than one.

“One person can only do so much at one time,” she said.

Henrikson-Mohn said they try to make sure they serve their clients in the best way possible by paying attention to detail.

“We treat them the way we would want to be treated in buying and selling a home,” she said.

It’s also about having fun.

“We really like to have fun,” Henrikson said. “If you don’t enjoy your job then you need to find something else to do.”

Technology is a vital part of the Henrikson Team’s business. Clients can see the listings online at www.bethhenrikson.com. In addition, clients can take a peek at the community with information about churches, schools, hospitals and local attractions. The eventual goal is to make virtual tours of the area attractions available as well so people can feel like they are standing at the zoo or other attractions that are unique to Emporia.

Henrikson said her hope is that the Web site will become a community destination, not just a real estate destination.

“We recently put blogs on the site,” she said. “We are planning on using that for all sorts of information. We really want it to be a place where people are (engaging in) dialog about our community.”
