U.S. Rep. Jerry Moran will hold a news conference about the National Teachers Hall of Fame at 8:45 a.m. Friday in the atrium of Visser Hall on the Emporia State University campus. A news release said that Moran would have “some exciting news” about the hall of fame.
The hall of fame was established in 1989 and inducted its first class of five honored teachers in 1992. In recent years, the institution has been troubled by fundraising woes. The hall of fame moved from its stand-alone site on the former College of Emporia campus and took up quarters in Visser Hall, the home of the Teachers College at ESU.
The news release said Moran would announce the results of “two years of effort in Washington, D.C., to help (the hall of fame) become a more-visible national entity.”
