A jury trial began this morning in Lyon County District Court in three combined cases that encompass almost 70 charges of sex- and alcohol-related crimes against minors.
After a day-long voir dire session, attorneys selected 12 jurors and three alternate jurors on Monday to hear the cases against Raul Manuel Magallanez Jr., who is accused of rape, indecent liberties with a minor, furnishing alcohol to a minor for illicit purposes, aggravated intimidation of a witness and other charges stemming from relationships he allegedly developed with young girls.
Opening statements from defense and prosecution attorneys were to begin at 9 a.m. today, followed by testimony from prosecution witnesses.
