Library board
The Emporia Public Library board meets at 4:15 p.m. Wednesday in the large meeting room at the library, 110 E. Sixth Ave. The agenda includes committee reports, setting a schedule of meetings and a discussion of the North Central Kansas Libraries contract.

Commission
The Emporia City Commission will have a lunch meeting with the William Allen White Community Partnership at noon Wednesday at “Red Rocks,” 927 Exchange St. The commission’s business meeting will start at 7 p.m. Wednesday in the city commission chambers, 518 Mechanic St., and will be followed by a study session on the city budget. The study session will be held in the city conference room, 521 Market St.
The commission meeting will include a public hearing on the city budget, which will be voted on either at this meeting or a future. The agenda will also include:
F The bid time and date for a Rural Water District No. 5 water main.
F The first change order on the Greenwood paving project.
F A proclamation in honor of Bob Fry, who has served with the Emporia Municipal Band since its founding in 1941. Another proclamation will name Aug. 25 ALS Awareness Day.
F Ordinances rezoning the northeast corner of Logan Avenue and Road M5 from agriculture to light industrial, and the northwest corner of 12th Avenue and Industrial Road from light industrial to commercial.
F Awarding of a bid to install traffic signals at Seventh Avenue and Merchant.
F Approval of a contract to build a hangar at the airport and of a lease for the new hangar.
F A city appointment to the Emporia Community Foundation.
