A Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railway freight train derailed early Monday morning in Osage County.
According to information from Osage County Sheriff Laurie Dunn, BNSF contacted her office about 3:30 a.m. to say that approximately 20 railway cars had gone off the track west of Olivet.
Sheriff’s officers and Melvern Fire and Emergency Medical Service workers responded to the BNSF call.
The cause of the derailment is not known, Dunn said. No injuries occurred and no hazardous materials were involved.
County and township roads in the derailment area will be closed temporarily, Dunn said.
