THE LYON COUNTY 4-H Rodeo, which celebrated its 50th year this year.
- Sherry’s Dance Workshop, which took a dance troupe to Branson, Mo., to give two performances. The troupe performed at Pierce Arrow Theater and the Dixie Stampede.
- Organizers of the Lyon County Fair. The event lasted six days and entertained thousands.
- Doug Ford, who will serve as the interim director of the Emporia Granada Theatre Alliance. Ford was an intern for the alliance and was appointed interim director when Vickie Hays-Walworth resigned as director in July.
- The Emporia Fresenius Medical Care Dialysis Clinic who has been recognized as a Center of Excellence by its parent company. The award is given in recognition of the work of nurses, staff and physicians at the clinic.
- Countrywide Home Loans, which opened a new office in Emporia. Shelia Hodson-Williams will operate the office at 702 Commercial St.
- Organizers of the Greater Emporia BBQ Festival. More than 40 teams will compete this weekend for $6,000 in cash prizes. Spectators can enjoy barbecue and live music during the event.
- Glendo Corp., which celebrated 30 years in business this week. Glendo makes tools for the engraving industry.
- Montana Mike’s and Doug and Traci Miller, who received lawn of the month awards from Emporia Gardeners of America.
