Sirens out of order
The city reported Wednesday that the Emporia’s tornado sirens are experiencing technical difficulties.
In a press release, Lt. John M. Koelsch of the Emporia Police Department said that, in the event of severe weather in the next 24 hours, people should tune to local media outlets for severe weather alerts and warnings.
“The local cable alert system is functional and alerts or warnings, if issued, will still be given by the Emporia Police Department over that system,” Koelsch said.
