Liz Martell, director of Emporia’s Convention and Visitors Bureau, resigned this morning.
Martell’s last day will be Sept. 28. She’s been the director for 10 1/2 years.
In a phone conversation this morning, Martell said she is leaving her position to pursue several other interests.
“This will give me a lot more time to pursue my interests further,” she said.
Chamber President Jeanine McKenna said she received the information this morning that Martell was resigning. McKenna said the chamber doesn’t have a time frame yet for hiring a replacement.
“She’s thankfully not leaving until the end of September,” McKenna said. “We’re going to put together what we want for the position.”
