Emporia State University’s physical science department hosted 24 middle-school science and math teachers in a three-week workshop called “Modeling Earth/Space Science Concepts in Middle School Science.”
The workshop is funded by a grant through the federal law No Child Left Behind called “Improving Teacher Quality,” and is in collaboration with Fort Hays State University.
“The workshop teaches ‘modeling’ as a pedagogical approach to teaching earth and space science concepts to middle-school students,” Malonne Davies, assistant professor in Chemical and Science Education, said.
