Burlington
Vandals drained multiple barrels of oil in Burlington early this week.
The Coffey County Republican reported that more than 100 barrels of oil were drained in what appears to be an act of vandalism.
Birk Oil Co. located one of their tanks off site and lost about 60 barrels of oil after the valve was left open on the oil tank. The employees hadn’t been to the site since late last week.
Another oil company also lost oil last week. Colt Oil Co. stated that they had lost more than 40 barrels of oil after a tank valve had been opened by unknown suspects.
Marion
The Marion City council was found not to be in violation of the Open Records Act following a complaint that was filed with Marion County Attorney Susan Robson.
The Marion County Record reported on April 25 that the city invited third parties to participate in an executive session on Feb. 26. Representatives from the Marion Planning Commission and USD 408 were invited to discuss attorney-client privilege.
Robson issued a letter stating that she believed the city council complied with the state statute.
Marion
The resignation of Marion Police Chief Michel Soyez was accepted on Monday following executive session early this week.
The Marion County Record reported that Soyez had submitted his resignation.
