Chocolate for Republicans
The “Chocolate Extravaganza” scheduled earlier this month by the Lyon County Republican Women has been rescheduled to 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Kuhn Red School Guest House east of Emporia. To get there, go east on Interstate 35 to Exit 138, turn to north over the Interstate, turn east on first road, Road 175.
Members are asked to take a prospective member and their favorite chocolate treat to share.
Non-members are welcome. The program will be presented by Barbara Wells, past president of Kansas Federation of Republican Women.

Tag, tax deadlines
Monday is the last day for people whose last names begin with the letters C or D to renew their vehicle registrations without penalty. The motor vehicle office in the Lyon County Courthouse is open from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Proof of insurance is required for registration renewal.
The deadline for payment of second-half personal property and real estate taxes will be May 10.
