Items needed for sale

Neosho Rapids Community Projects is accepting donations for an upcoming rummage sale to be held in May. Items will be collected from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday at 233 N. Main St. in Neosho Rapids; or call Julie at 343-3926 after 3:30 p.m., Dorothy at 342-4313 or Bettina at 342-5385 to set up a drop-off time. The sale will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. May 4 and from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. May 5 at 233 N. Main St. in Neosho Rapids.

Proceeds will be used for a marquee sign.

Plant sale is Saturday

The Emporia Gardeners of America will have the 51st Annual Plant Sale from 7:30 to 2 p.m. Saturday at the Anderson Building on the Lyon County fairgrounds. Featured in the sale will be a variety of ornamental perennials, annuals, vegetable plants, hanging baskets, house plants and water garden plants. Home-cooked food also will be available.

Proceeds from the sale will be used for a variety of community projects, such as college horticulture scholarships, bus tours, beautification awards, County fair horticulture sweepstakes and many other educational programs for youth and adults.

The Royal Neighbors of America, Camp 4135 of Virgil, is sponsoring a matching fund project at 5 p.m. Saturday at Fellowship Hall in Virgil for the benefit of the Virgil United Methodist Fellowship Hall to help finance an air conditioning and heating unit for the Hall. A chicken and noodle or ham with mashed potatoes dinner, with vegetable, salad, dessert and beverage will be served, beginning at 5 p.m.

The cost is $6 for adults and $3 for children younger than 10 years. The also will be a silent auction and food sale table.
