Q I keep seeing new school buses. How many new buses has the Emporia school district purchased recently?
A Five regular-route buses and one special needs bus were purchased in the 2005-06 school year, according to information from Nancy Horst, community relations director for the district. Horst said the details were provided to her by Barbara Pringle, transportation director.
Those buses were delivered in October, November, December of 2006 and one in January 2007.
The districts normally replaces buses at a rate of three per year. Because of anticipated price increases, however, the district bought three additional buses in 2005-06.
The oldest bus in the district is 14 years old; two are 13 years old. The district’s goal is to replace buses after 12 years of use.
No buses will be purchased in the 2006-07 school year.

Isn't it interesting that the least paid officers are the ones in most danger? I think the police officers need a raise!!
