Churches taking orders for May ‘Angel food’ boxes

“Angel Food” orders for May delivery are being taken now at the First Church of the Nazarene, 2931 West 24th Ave., and the Emporia Presbyterian Church, 802 Commercial St.
The cost for a box of food is $25, and participants must bring a large box with them to pick up their orders. Payment must be made in cash or food stamps at the time the order is placed. No checks will be accepted.
Orders may be placed at the Nazarene Church from 2 to 6 p.m. today, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday; from 2 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday; and from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday. For information on days and times to place orders at the Presbyterian Church, call 342-0375.
Delivery of Nazarene orders is made at the church, with pick-up time listed on receipts. Delivery for orders placed at the Presbyterian Church is at the New Process Laundry building, Fourth Avenue and Merchant Street. Deliveries at both sites will be on Saturday, May 12. Food that is not picked up will be donated to others in need.
This month, boxes will include: four 5 ounces of New York strip steaks, four pounds of frozen chicken thighs, 40 ounces of beef and bean burritos, 28 ounces of beef and noodle dinner, two pounds of breaded frying chicken, 1 pound of ground beef, 12 ounces of pepperoni pizza sticks, 2 pounds of popcorn chicken, 1 pound of bean soup mix, 8 ounces of biscuit mix, 7.5 ounces of macaroni and cheese, 12 corn tortillas, 26 ounces of pasta sauce, one pound of pasta, 24 ounces of hash brown potatoes, 1 pound of mixed vegetables, and one dessert item.
With the purchase of a box of food, participants also may buy “bonus boxes” of meat. Information about contents of meat boxes is available at the churches.
