Emporia school board
An increase in meal prices, textbooks for the coming school year and a phase-out of the dual language program are among the items on the agenda for the Emporia Board of Education meeting on Wednesday. The meeting will begin at 7 p.m. in the Emporia High School library. The board will tour the middle school construction project at 5:30 p.m.
Other items on the agenda include seventh-grade athletic programs, a revision in technology-use policy, board policies on fiscal management and a bond resolution. Requests will be made to let bids for district paper and supplies and food service food and supplies.
The board also will be asked to approve bids for Lowther Intermediate School South renovation work and a Logan Avenue School project and purchase of fitness equipment and laptop computers.
Special meeting in Americus
The Americus City Council has scheduled a special meeting at 8 p.m. Tuesday at city hall. Items on the agenda include approving rates, hiring personnel, setting hours and adopting a handbook for the city swimming pool.
The council will also discuss the punch list for the sewer and lagoon project and consider a fence at the lagoon.
