Hat show Wednesday
Dottie’s Hat Show will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the First United Methodist Church parlor. This is a fashion show featuring a vintage collection of hats from the 1800s through the 1920s and more recently. The event will be presented by Dorothy Theiss of Warrensburg, Mo., “an avid hat collector,” and sister of Emporians Mary Sue Wade and Larry Timmons. There is no charge to attend; all are welcome.
Harvest Day meeting
The Hartford Harvest Day committee will meet at 6 p.m. Wednesday at the small community building. They are looking for volunteers and new ideas. The meeting is open to the public. “Royal Harvest” is the theme for this year’s event, which will be held Sept. 29.
Cards for Lucille Marks
Former Emporia resident of 45 years and retired ESU instructor Lucille Marks will celebrate her 89th birthday on May 1. Marks and her husband, the late Leslie Marks, raised their family in Emporia. She moved to Lincoln, Neb., in 2005. The family request a card shower for her with cards to be sent to 3900 Pine Lake Road, Lincoln, NE 68516.
Community supper
The Mound Ridge Community Supper will be served at 6:30 p.m. Friday at the school house. Those attending are to take a covered dish. Beverages will be provided. Information: 342-0794.
