Rossbach leads ESU with 1st-place finish at Kansas Relays

Emporia State’s Jonel Rossbach ran the fourth-fastest 3,000-meter time in school history, winning the event at the Kansas Relays Thursday in Lawrence.
The junior’s time of 10:03.45 is a provisional qualifier and ranks eighth in the nation this season.
Skyler Delmott added a 21st-place finish in the 5,000-meter run, posting the fastest ESU time in the event this season (15:34.94).
In the unseeded 1,500-meter run, ESU’s Shea Camien took 20th (4:05.21) and Michael Stephens took 26th (4:09.14).
Jonathan Heinicke also competed in the unseeded 800-meter run, placing 61st (2:03.72), while Stephanie Grote was 18th in the women’s hammer throw (135 feet, 7 inches).
ESU will continue competition at the relays today, with defending national champion Andy Vogelsberg competing in the javelin at 5 p.m. He is the top-ranked collegian entered in the event.
