RENEWABLE Energy Group, which decided to build a biodiesel plant in Emporia. The $65 million plant will be on 41 acre site east of Norfolk Iron & Metal.
— Participants who took part in the Lawson T. Dody Memorial walk. The event raised $4,600 for the Dody family.
— Matt Zimmerman, who started on Monday as Emporia’s new city manager.
— Dr. Chet Stone, Tom Krueger and employees of the Emporia Central Care Center who are working to set up the June Bug Foundation. The foundation will help reduce medical costs for cancer victims. Money to help start the foundation was given by June Monnard Sauder.
— Pizza Hut, which will build a new dine-in restaurant in northwest Emporia. Construction will begin in the next 30 days and it should take 90 days to complete.
— Jordan Stout, who signed a letter of intent to play basketball at Emporia State.
