The Emporia State football team released its schedule on Wednesday, unveiling a slate that should be challenging from Week One.
The Hornets will open with four of their first five games on the road, with non-conference trips to the states of Colorado and Oklahoma.
ESU will play Western State (Colo.) in Week One, opening the season at the highest collegiate football stadium in the world. Mountaineer Bowl is located 7,750 feet above sea level.
The Hornets will travel to Edmond, Okla., during Week Two to face Central Oklahoma before starting MIAA play.
ESU’s home opener will come against Southwest Baptist on Sept. 15 before consecutive road contests at Fort Hays State and Missouri Southern.
Following three consecutive home games — including an Oct. 13 date with rival Washburn — ESU closes the season at Truman, at home against Northwest Missouri and in the last weekend at Pittsburg State.
Season tickets go on sale beginning April 23 at the Memorial Union on the ESU campus.
