An Emporia woman and a 3-year-old girl were injured in an accident Friday night after their car slid off the road and into a ditch.
According to the Kansas Turnpike Authority, Monica Carranza, 23, lost control of her Ford Explorer in the slush at 8:10 p.m. near milepost 166 of the Kansas Turnpike, about 10 miles south of Topeka. The KTA said that both Carranza and 3-year-old Diego Carriloo appeared to have stomach pains. Carranza elected to seek her own medical treatment for the two of them and neither was moved by ambulance.
Both Carranza and Diego had been wearing seat belts, according to the KTA.
