The Madison boys and the Southern Coffey County girls won the team titles at the Jaguar Invitational on Thursday at Hartford.
Madison barely missed out on the sweep of the team titles, as the boys totaled 105 points to edge Lebo (97) while the Southern Coffey County girls clipped the Madison girls by one point, 102-101.
The Madison boys claimed titles in six events, with Jordan Stout claiming individual victories in the triple jump (42 feet, 8 inches) and the 200-meter dash (23.25 seconds).
Madison swept the top three places in the triple jump, as Danny James (second, 40-10 1/2) and Jacob Huber (third, 38-04) followed Stout.
Donovan Hamilton won the pole vault title for Madison with a final clearance of 10 feet to beat his teammate, Huber (9-06).
Jacob Stewart won the high jump with a leap of 6 feet, while the Bulldogs’ 4x100 (45.90 seconds) and 4x400 (3:45) relay squads each took home victories.
Lebo had two athletes take home event titles, led by Bryant Linsey’s three victories in the long jump (19-07 3/4), the javelin (160-04) and the 100-meter dash (11.26 seconds).
Cameron Smith won the fourth title for Lebo with a four-second victory in the 400 (52.25 seconds) over Madison’s Hamilton.
Hartford’s Keegan Crawford won two events on the day, taking the 1,600-meter run in a time of 5:03, 12 seconds ahead of teammate Aaron Thomsen (5:15), and the 3,200. Thomsen won the 800 in a time of 2:10.
Dane Birk of Southern Coffey County won the discus with a heave of 129-11, Josh Fine of Marais des Cygnes Valley won the shot put with a throw of 45-06 and Burlingame’s 4x800 relay squad finished in 9:04.31 to claim the victory by 15 seconds.
Southern Coffey County’s John Kraft was the top area finisher in both the 110-meter high hurdles (second, 18.06 seconds) and the 300-meter intermediate hurdles (third 47.52 seconds).
Southern Coffey County, despite having fewer event winners than Madison, still managed to take home the girls team title over the Lady Bulldogs thanks to several events — the 100-meter dash, the 1,600-meter run, the 4x100, the long jump and the 4x800 — where Madison had no point-winners.
SCC’s only two titles came in the relays, as the Lady Titans took the 4x800 and the 4x400 titles, crossing the finish line in 11:39.23 and 4:48, respectively.
As for Madison, Morgan Stout led the way by winning four events — the pole vault (6-06), the high jump (5 feet), the 200 (27.94 seconds) and the 400 (1:05). She also finished second in the triple jump (33-7 3/4) to Lebo’s Nickole Presley (34-08).
Presley also won the long jump title with a leap of 15-03 1/4 and the javelin with a heave of 108 feet.
Jennifer Finch of Madison won the 300-meter low hurdles in a time of 55.06 seconds and took second in the 100-meter high hurdles in a time of 19 seconds, 2 seconds behind Crest’s Brittany Newton. Tera Titus picked up Madison’s sixth event title by winning the discus with a throw of 107-02.
Burlingame claimed four event titles: Tabitha Lester in the 100 (12.96 seconds) and the shot put (36-10), and Aerielle Floyd in the 800 (2:48) and the 1,600 (6:31).
Hamilton’s Kylie Olson won the 3,200 in a time of 14:18.
