Green Week
The Emporia State University Young Democrats and the ESU Environment Club are sponsoring a series of campus events for “Green Week,” a prelude to April 22’s Earth Day. Throughout the week, a bag of recyclables can be dropped off at the Green Week table in the Student Union between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. for a chance to win a Trek 820 bicycle from High Gear of Emporia.
Events include:
• Monday: Planting a tree on campus. Meet at the Morse volleyball courts at 5 p.m.
• Tuesday: Picking up trash on campus. Meet at 4 p.m. at the Sunken Garden.
• Wednesday: Screening of Al Gore’s documentary “An Inconvenient Truth” at 7 p.m. in Science Hall Room 72. Free refreshments will be available.
• Thursday: An early Earth Day community picnic from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Wilson Park, north of the Twin Towers. The bike will be drawn for at this time.
