FLINT HILLS Technical College, which donated textbooks to Africa. The books will be used in schools and libraries.
• Byron Yeager and Chris Miller, who will be competing in the 2007 Kansas Ford/AAA Student Auto Skills Contest. The event will take place on May 10 at the Kansas Speedway.
• The Emporia High girls swim team’s 200-yard freestyle relay ream that qualified for the state meet.
• Sgt. Amber Orton, who ran in a cancer-awareness event in Balad, Iraq. Orton ran in the Race for the Cure in honor of her mother ,Wanda Orton.
• Emporia State Unversity field athlete Andy Vogelsburg, who qualified for nationals in javelin.
• Plumb Place, which received $100,000 in grants to perform exterior renovations.
• Wolf Creek, which donated computer equipment to ESU.
