Clarification
Facts on dumping
In the county commission story in Thursday’s Gazette, the following clarifications are needed: The average cost of cleaning up an illegal dump in Kansas is $4,500. The state allows for a maximum of $10,000 per dump site with the county paying 15 percent of the cost. There are four types of dumpers the state identifies: known, unknown, unable and the unwilling.
