Receives state award
Kathleen Inwood, director of the SOS Child Advocacy Center in Emporia, was honored by Kansas Attorney General Paul Morrison on Thursday at the annual Crime Victims Rights Conference in Wichita.
Morrison presented Inwood with the award for outstanding work in child advocacy.
Inwood, who is also the president of the Kansas Chapter of Children’s Advocacy Centers, also works at the state and national levels.
“Kathleen as worked with legislators, the governor’s office, the attorney general’s office and community members to advance child advocacy programs across the state,” Morrison said. “Her hard work has changed the lives of some of our most vulnerable victims.”
Politics and chocolate
Lyon County Republican Women will have a “Chocolate Extravaganza” at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in the red school guest house east of Emporia on Road 175. Members are asked to take a prospective member and their favorite chocolate treat.
The guest speaker will be Barbara Wells, past president of the Kansas Federation of Republican Women.
