Child safety seat event
A child safety seat inspection will be run from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at Staples, 2200 Industrial Road. Inspections will be done by certified “Safe Kids Safety Technicians,” according to information from Emporia Police Officer Larry Clay.
In case of rain, the inspections will be held at Longbine Auto Plaza, 3012 West Highway 50.
Participants need to bring their primary vehicles, their child safety seats, and their children.
Information and guidelines for free booster seats will be available at the inspection site.
The event is sponsored by East Central Kansas Child Care Resources Referral, Early Head Start, Kiwanis Club, and Early Childhood Task Force.
Children’s handprint tiles
The Peter Pan Playground Committee will be at the Flinthills Mall on Friday, Saturday and Sunday with the Young Artists Art Gallery.
Children’s handprint tiles will be available for a $5 donation each. The tiles will be permanently displayed at the playground when it is built this fall. For more information, call 342-1600.
RDA meeting
The Regional Development Association of East Central Kansas will meet at 7 a.m. Friday at the Trusler Business Center. The agenda will include minutes of March 9 and March 23; budget report for March 31 and bank reconciliation; president’s report about an economic update on industrial development; other reports; other business.
An alternate location has been set for the Spring Forward, Lawson T. Dody Memorial Walk. In the case of rain Thursday evening, the event will be held inside the HPER Building on the Emporia State University campus. The event starts at 6 p.m. with registration starting at 5 p.m.

An alternate location has been set for the Spring Forward, Lawson T. Dody Memorial Walk. In case of rain Thursday evening, the event will be held inside the Health, Physical Education and Recreation Building at Emporia State University.
The walk will start at 6 p.m. with registration beginning at 5 p.m.
